Mayflower Maid is a story told as an old woman reminisces about her voyage and first years in the Plymouth colony. Elizabeth or Bet (as her father calls her) is a spritely young girl at the beginning of the tale. She lives a normal life in a small English town. As her parents religious preference steers away from the Church of England they decide to move to Holland and then to America onboard the Mayflower. Bet survives many adversities to live a prosperous life in America.

As I began reading this intriguing novel I found myself not wanting to put it down. So many details I never think of have been interwoven in this charming tale of the first English Colonist. Beginning a lover of history, the Mayflower Maid gave me whole other perspective on this important time in American history. This is an enjoyably creative story that keeps the reader enraptured until the end.
