Peterson uses three points to help inspire Christians to live Christ Resurrection everyday of our lives. Resurrection Wonder, Resurrection Meals, and Resurrection Friends provide a guide to use Christ Resurrection each moment.
In Chapter one, “Resurrection Wonder”, the author strives to remind us of basic Christianity. The wonder of Jesus Resurrection should never ware off. Examples are given and applied to our lives today of idolatry and keeping the Sabbath holy. Peterson explores God’s hand in our workplaces. We often do not see it at the time but on reflection God’s miracles stand out.
Resurrection Meals, Chapter 2, opens with “God talk” and how we need to put it into practice instead of only talking about it. He then moves on to how Christians “disconnect” Christ from certain aspects of our lives. The everyday action of eating a meal is the cornerstone of Resurrection. Our spirituality should follow our daily routine.
The final chapter, “Resurrection Friends”, centers on forming our own “Christian Idenities.” We should form ourselves into experts on Christianity and not on commercialized Chrisitan books and other items. We as Christians should learn and grow around our friends not in large crowds of strangers.
In short Eugene Peterson steers the reader toward a spiritual resurrection an a revival of biblical teachings.
I was inspired by many of the simple points the author makes throughout the book. The basis of the Resurrection of Christ as applied to our everyday life is a prime element of the Bible. I fully intend to put into practice the guide points Peterson lays out.
